They are good, they are also 'childrens books' but a lot of the adults who have read them enjoy them so don't let that stop you. A daemon is sort of a physical manisfastion of your soul as an animal. If your daemeon dies so do you. No one else touchs your daemon. When you are a child your daemon changes shape and form but when you are and adult it settles into and animal that most resiables your charactstics and personality. You can't go far from your daemon. Your daemon is usally the oppsite sex to you, but very rarely it is the same. Your daemon can talk as well.
There we go, a bit of background info.
BTW the books are called, The Northen Lights, The Subtle Knife, and the Amber Sypglass. They are by Phillip Pullman. You have to read them in order and give them a chance as the story takes a few chapaters to devlop.
