I've got one of each parent (in the obvious, usual sense) and in the "laid-back" sense. I'm not sure my dad would give a crap, but mum would be... confused and saddened by the whole thing.
Oh, and a common short cut for text size is to hold down the CTRL key and use the wheel on your wheel mouse (if you have one).
It's odd that you should say that because I only discovered that yesterday by accident, not realising that there was a DVD holding down my left control key and trying to work out what the hell was going on as I scrolled...
I found that quite a while ago. I have the added convenience in the office of a Logitech MouseMan+ with the side button bound to Ctrl. This means I can shrink and grow stuff without even touching the keyboard! (I actually put Ctrl there to make Ctrl+click multiple selections easier.)
In many packages, shift+wheel scrolls you left and right, but in IE it does forward and back. (As do alt+left and alt+right).

Then again, most people seem to have somewhat cooler and more laid-back parents than mine. I'm jealous.
