http://www.blackcatnetworks.co.uk - run by friends of mine and do almost everything from plain hosting/email forwarding to hosting my housemate's jointly owned colo server.
This is a professional service needed so we can forget cheap. We've used in the past Demon, Amen and Via at present. The business is carried on via a call centre but increasingly via an automated full-on bookable website which is linked to a professional money taking service via the customers' credit cards and the bookings for the service will then automatically enter into the company's database. Our problems up to now have been:- expensive phone calls to technical assistance; web pointing failure for days; email pointing failure for weeks; server down; straight lying about status of any of the services! In addition to Alex' comments above we also need self administerable (is there such a word?) email addresses and ftp. I don't know what colo is?? Alex' Mother.

I've always found Dataflame a good company, they've responded quickly to my (very few) queries in the past, they have decent domain management software, decent connectivity. Not exactly an expert on web hosting providers though.
