Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000 :). Still off work (despite doing some urgent stuff for them from home this morning; brownie points++), feeling a bit better. Went to pick up [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000's bike just now from the sellers; think she's a bit meh about the whole thing at present because she still hasn't been able to ride it herself yet. Perhaps a session in a car park tomorrow is the answer :)

Been heavily into a computer game to try and keep me sane. Think it's been driving everyone else insane instead though ;)

Yup, definitely 'meh'. Ah well, though it's never going to be as fast or sound as nice as a bigger bike, it'll still be a lot better than many.

Glad you like the icons. *kiss*

What bike have you got?
I always wanted something big and beefy but I'm just too short :(

Me too, I'm 5'2" with disproportionately short legs so I really struggle, also the size of my hands is a majot factor.

Mine is a Honda CBR400RR. Grey imports from the Japanese market are good since they're made for little people, in fact people the size of [livejournal.com profile] azekeil just look stupid on them, as you can see here... ;)

Do you ride, or has the size problem put you off?

*ggl* he does look pretty silly.
Don't know what there is to be disapointed about that, its a decent bike.
I really want a Honda Shadow but I can't aford one til I get a job.

Yes, I know the feeling. My savings are now quite low and I'm replenishing them only very slowly since I'm paying [livejournal.com profile] azekeil back the money I borrowed to get the bike. There is enough left for the first year's insurance and for Christmas though, so it's all good.

The other thing is I'm not just teeny, I'm a weakling too so I find getting bikes on and off the stand a problem.
I can ride, I have my CBT anyway but I don't have a bike.
I used to have a 125 scooter (don't laugh) but it got nicked and I could never afford to replace it what with the insurance and everything.

I'm the same. I've joined a gym and got a couple of workouts devised that concentrate on upper body strength. The CBR is certainly heavier and more difficult to control than the SR I've been learning to ride on, but I don't want to buy a 125cc, so a restricted bike it is...

Restricted only for 2 years, or not at all if you decide to buy something like a Kawasaki ER-5, do your test on it and sell it again afterwards. Then you would save yourself the £200 for having the restrictor kit fitted and have a full license straight away.. (this all mainly for [livejournal.com profile] sepheri's benefit)

Have you seen this?

Also, have a look at the comment I left to [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000's comment below.

A "session in a carpark" may well cheer her up, but what about the bike riding?

Boom-cha!

I thought you had some New Rocks with stonking great platform soles. Surely you could just wear those and ride a larger bike?

Very difficult to ride in even relatively minor platforms. I found changing up gears particularly tricky in my NotNewRocks (cheap clones, same kind of styling), as they didn't want to go in between the footpeg and the gear lever.

I imagine a bike as compact as the CBR400RR would accentuate this difficulty.

Additionally, imagine two points - one the foot rests on, and another where the toe of the shoe is. To change down you press down on the lever. Not too much problem there. To change up, you have to hook your foot underneath the toe-end and pull up. Can you see where the problem might be? ;)
