Why have you censored the registration mark in the details, when it's shown in the photo? (-8

eBay's decision, not mine. I did notice that too.

Actually I might be, my car's probably a lot deader than that and probably needs replacing sooner rather than later, what do you reckon the chances of getting through the MOT are?
depends on how much you expect to get for it and what my insurance company says though.

MOT's not a major problem AFAIK but the turbo whine isn't a great sign. Anyone buying this car has to be OK with the fact that the clutch has major issues and the turbo isn't healthy. I'm assuming it'll go for spares and repairs, but if you're happy to put the work in to sort it, it might be a bargain.

In addition to what [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000 said, it cost me £115 or thereabouts for replacing bushes and possibly something else that was trivial at the last MOT. Obviously I'm not making any guarantees but I'd hope it would go through without any major problems. It's certainly safe and legal to drive - that's always been the important part what with driving children around.

The clutch is heavy apparently because the thrust fingers are stiff through age/use and will need replacing. You may be able to get a replacement from a scrap yard though for a reasonable amount, and if it is the turbo with the problem a replacement one of those would probably cure the problem.

If you're interested I'd be happy for you to bring a mechanic friend up to take a look and do it off eBay..

It sounds like a possibility still, of course still depending on what price you'd take for it off ebay, and what my insurance co says. I'll call them tomorrow. I suspect they could charge me a fortune though as it's a) bigger engine capacity than my current car and b) has the word turbo on it.

Yes, unfortunately they do jump on that.

I would be happy with £200 to be honest, how does that sound?

Sounds good to me. I'll get back to you after I've phoned the insurers. If it's all good I could probably come over at the weekend to have a look, if that's ok.
