I've been doing as the subject suggests - a weekend of lovely, also with some work on the room, which is looking like it's going to be ready a little early, which is nice. Thursday I decided to take off work in order to rest due to illness and pushing myself, but the plasterer popped over and said he could only do the work tomorrow morning. So I ended up clearing the room and stripping the ceiling and wallpaper and ripping out the cupboard while I was 'recovering'. Upon which I discovered that THERE WAS NO WALL BEHIND ONE OF THE WARDROBE SIDES. F%$&£$. Cue me ALSO putting up a plasterboard wall in the evening with [livejournal.com profile] meltie's help - thank the gods he happened to be around and didn't mind being put to work yet again on my house ;) [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000 mentions this here.

[livejournal.com profile] ev1ldonut sanded the room's walls on Sunday, but the room has no door, so unfortunately the rest of the house (including my new room which I'd cleaned and dusted everything in during its migration from old to new room) is now covered in a fine layer of plaster dust, which can't be good for electrical things or expensive speakers, and will take me considerable time to clear up :/

Anyway, buying the stereo for my car has made a huge difference to my driving pleasure. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] thespirit3! I can listen to the music I want, in decent quality, and loudly (which is rare at home etc). This makes me very happy.

Finally, in honour of my current appearance, I thought you could all do with a photo of how I currently look, which is something like this:

Plaster dust isn't conductive so I wouldn't worry too much about the electrics, just give a good blow through any vents and it'll all be fine. Your speakers have grills on them, no dust will be on the cones, just take the grills off when we've dusted and clean them off.

And I will of course help you clear it all up! Just give me a duster and a bottle of polish, dusting is something I really don't mind doing at all. :)

We need to go and get wallpaper though, tonight? Wednesday?

but the room has no door...
Bit late now but surely you have a spare sheet you could have tapped over the doorway to keep the dust in?

You look like a bear!

Yes, it must have been taken by a talented photographer who had to use a sub-standard camera, insisted on using no flash despite cries to the contrary, put him into a half-decent pose and is, as yet, uncredited. I wonder who that was? *Ponders*

But, now, the ultimate question: Does it suit me do you think?

Ah well we won't need to create anything like that mess again, but it is *everywhere*. We'll need to vacuum too :/

I can come wallpaper shopping tonight if you like, although Wednesday is likely to be less fraught; it depends when [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000 wants to start hanging it. Do you want me to take mornings off again [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000?

Yeah, he did, but I didn't realise and didn't stick it up. My bad unfortunately. :(

Yeah, I mentioned that to [livejournal.com profile] ev1ldonut as the sheet I'd been using while my new bedroom door was off would have done the job; shame we didn't think of it at the time.

It'll need to be bought by the weekend, that's when I intend to hang it. In the time before then the skirtings need to be sanded (tonight, please?) and the everything needs to be washed / swept, primed and painted. I'll adjust the relevant entry to reflect this. :)

Wednesday will probably be better, as the walls need to be washed/sized and left to dry first anyway, and there's be more time as we need to go food shopping this evening.

I am sorry I didn't think to put up the throw. :( But as I said, I will help clear it all up!

You look very cheerful there. I'm not if the beard suits you, or whether it's just nice to see you looking so happy, but it's definitely a good pic.

Dust is generally an insulator - the worry on electronics is that it will (sometimes dramatically) increase heat levels of components, rather than shorting.

Those cans of compressed air are good for blasting things clear again. And fun for attacking unsuspecting people with at parties :)

My motivation is several things (aside from general improvements to the house): Money from rent (which will go straight onto the mortgage to decrease the time it takes to buy my house), and having [livejournal.com profile] ev1ldonut up here will make family life a lot easier and also have knock-on effects for my life - such as being able to plan food better, and spend more time at my house :)

I was going for slightly manic, but I guess tiredness first thing in the morning will make it look more like everyday cheerfulness ;)
