After being somewhat persuaded by [livejournal.com profile] ev1ldonut and [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000 (damn them! but not very much), I decided to purchase one of these:

and one of these:

I haven't yet cut the hole in my wall for it yet as I discovered it needs to be hung upside down, and I don't have the holdy-upside-down thing.. yet. Looks good though.

Just to give you a sense of perspective, that telly you see at the bottom is a 28". The screen itself is 106". I've not got the projector displaying on the whole of it yet as it needs to be just behind the wall in order to do so. Instead, we've watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in Semi-Huge-O-Vision™. Huge-O-Vision™ will be coming soon...

I think we need to decorate; even the huuuuuuge screen doesn't hide the walls enough. ;)

Damn. I was hoping to get away from decoration by distraction by large shiny lights... ;)

Yeah. and, um, no.

P.S. I've been home 30 mins, had the ratties out, found the stuff I was looking for and now I miss you. Can I come back? The shared lie-in in the morning is very temmpting...

Projector *ought* to have an invert image option, most new models have (often buried in several layers of menus) as many are back-projected or bolted to other things.

Also, you might get away with a TV beacket rather than cutting a hole in the wall...

Still, nice piece of kit. Huge-O-Vision is what all the kids are doing in 2007... ;D

It does have an invert option (and mirror options, for rear projection).. and I am a fussy bugger who won't stand for the fan noise of the projector in the same room.. so in the other room it must go, behind the wall..

Ah, I see what you mean... perhaps an enclosure would be a less destructive option, like at the cinema?

Ah, that would cause issues with overheating.. as it is I've actually cut the hole and mounted it on the ceiling in the hall, and it's virtually silent now - even without the baffle I intend to put in place.
