After some initial discussions at BadgerLAN 9, I propose we start a Sunday evening computer network gaming club. Essentially we'll use Hamachi to connect together and play games that aren't really suitable for a LAN, or can be played across slower links (i.e. not FPSes). We may need to create a new Hamachi network depending on number of people interested.

These can be divided into two categories: ones that can be played in an evening (a short RTS or turn-based game like Magic?) and ones that are ongoing (NWN2?). If you want to play something ongoing, we'll need to have a commitment to play every so often (perhaps every other week?) to ensure we don't let others down. Otherwise we can just gather online on Hamachi from 6pm and see what we feel like playing.

Thoughts? Open to BadgerLAN regulars and other LJers alike :) Feel free to link non-LJers to this post :)

Feel free to comment with organisational, game or other suggestions..

NWN, not NWN2 - multiplayer is still a lil' flakey, and the OC in NWN2 doesn't really work multiplayer....

Of course, there's some (one or two) modules that you can download, but I'd wait until things like Planescape: Purgatorium and some of the other big projects are available and see how they work multiplayer...

Well, given the fact that I'm a gamer geek, I'm interested. Evenings or weekends are definately best for me (with a bit of a slant towards weekends). I may not be able to join in with anything ongoing, due to some gaming commitments (I play World of Warcraft, and am in a good raiding guild - so I normally spend a few hours a night on that playing with the rest of the guild), but I'll obviously see what I can do, certainly if a regular slot is being organised.

You know me. In principle I'm interested. In practice Sunday evenings are not the most reliable to catch me on. Hunday evenings (i.e. those that don't exist) are consistently available and Moosday evenings (a cross between Monday and Tuesday) are plausibly free.

Yup,
Potentially interested as well.
Not really sure exacltly which games, but in principle, count me in.

I've often got Pen and Paper RPGing on Sunday evenings during University term times, but not sure if I will or not in the Summer term.

Mr V. Interested of Coaley here.
probably can't commit to every week, but rather depends on the times that are eventually agreed. For me, evenings are better than weekends - although Sunday evening should be the bestest.

In principle, I'm inter4ested, but it depends on the games. I haven't played seriously since the LAN we hosted.
