People who judge by their own standards... grrrr...

I've just had a rather frustrating conversation with chocojon, my friend and landlord. He wanted to know when I was moving out. He'd heard rumours from that I'd moved out and just hadn't told him yet, to in a year's time.. I said to him that my plans hadn't changed from the last time I spoke to him, which was that I needed to get a job in Cheltenham for probably 6 months before I would be considered for a mortgage on my new salary.

He said that he wanted to hear it from me - I actually said to him that I'm not like him - I actually tell people my plans, especially when they influence other people. I hate it when I get judged by someone else's standards, especially when I disagree strongly with those standards.

My logic is this:
You have been in this (my) house for less than a week in the past month. (Exact timings might be wrong but that's how it seems - Correct me if I'm wrong here.)
Thus, you have spent a lot of time away with respect to how much time you have spent here.
Most people who spend a lot of time away from a place are often said to have moved out of said place.
You said that you would be here (renting a room) for quite a while.
Hence, I was confused about when you were leaving and asked you directly (because you would be the most reliable source for when you would be moving out) since I had forgotten when you said you might be leaving.

I shall endeavour to tell you of any plan that might affect you from now on.

I apologise for not telling you of my plans but
(1) I am quite shy and hardly tell anyone of many of the things that I do.
(2) You around here quite rarely so I get little chance to chat to you or tell you of anything that I'm going to do.
(3) I have, obviously, been too discriminating about informing people of my plans, i.e. hardly telling anyone about anything.

I know of very few of other people's standards and hence I have to judge people by my own standards. I try to be as fair as possible and treat people as I'd want to be treated myself. I don't know of your standards so I just have to use my own. I'm sorry if you disagree with this but it's just the way I am.
