As jikatal points out, today's strip of megatokyo is a very good indication of our joint effort on the beast :D

I managed to solve my DHCP problem (stupid kernel parameters) and iron out a few other bugs. I get the last 160GB HDD tomorrow and get to play with making 1TB RAID-5 stripe sets *grin*

Oh, bad news dylan, the fans won't run at 7v. I don't expect you (or anyone else for that matter) to be able to sleep with it on so I'm going to purchase some quieter 120mm fans...

UPDATE: Oh, and with unlimited money, just to satisfy my whim, I would give EVERYONE in the ENTIRE WORLD lots of money so I could watch civilisation come crashing down with a *thump* and start again :)

Heh, doesn't it tell you that when it starts up? I remember having to recompile a kernel on a p60 (fun) to get dhcp working...

See how loud it is for now, it might not be too bad in that cupboard. I only sleep there about 3 nights a month anyway

The manufacturers favorable rating of those fans is 45db; so we should be able to find something quieter. On the flip side each of the 8 hdd's are almost as noisy. So I'm not sure what kinda difference quieter fans will make :D
