Despite fears that the Three Pigeons was double-booked and hence unavailable for the Bike Weekend on Sat 5th July, it turns out that they have 5 acres of land, so more than enough room for both groups. Not only that, but it turns out that the wedding that's happening is one of the barmaids', and it is a biker bash! Fantastic!

Not only that, but they have live rock music on the Saturday night as well, so it sounds like it's going to be a right old knees-up!

I have to admit I don't know Oxford that well. So, suggestions for routes and/or volunteers to lead the way would be very appreciated. If I don't hear anything by Wednesday evening I shall start planning a route myself.

In the mean time, here is a poll to fill in to get a more up-to-date idea of what's going on:

UPDATE: For the relief of our female campers (pun intended), the female loos will be left open throughout the night :)

Sue's decided she isn't coming, which tbh I'm a little relieved about - the CB doesn't handle too well under a heavy load; it can manage, but it does protest rather.

You mustn't talk about Sue like that!! :p

*grins*

I'm looking forward to the time when I get my next bike. It may be a couple of years, but a better bike, with better suspension, and I'll have Sue whizzing about all over the country on it.

We're not going to be able to make it, I'm afraid. I have to work now and can't get out of it. :-(

Unfortunately no, I'm working Saturday and Sunday and then off on a course for a week on the Monday.

Bugger... :-(

I've probably written this elsewhere in dribs and drabs but here's the gist of my weekend so that it's all in one place:
Helen won't be coming pillion.
I will be coming to the ride on the condition that I'm happy with the new bike.
I haven't really decided about camping/pub etc because it largely depends on the company (see below).
I have a 2-3 man tent that I can bring if necessary (and if I can squeeze it on the bike, I don't have a top box).
I live in Thatcham so the closer my pillion is to me the better, alternatively I'm quite happy to chop and change as and when.
I can probably help a bit with the route, I'm marginally more local than most of the attendees but not as local as [livejournal.com profile] florence90. I have lived in Oxford, which might help.

I think that's it for now...

D'oh. I didn't put my "see below" thing in :)

Anyway, as most of you know I neither drink nor smoke so pubs are usually highly undesirable. So basically if everyone is going to sit there deliberately getting drunk I'm going to be bored within an hour.

Rant over, I'm sure you get what I mean... :)

Yes but I have to cater for the majority. There is a band there which should be fairly entertaining and there's always the possibility of a BBQ at some point..?

In fact, most of the reason we're camping is SO that we can drink :)

Heh, of course. The majority can be catered for and I'll be quite happy with that. This week will dictate whether or not I'll be around on Saturday, I'll probably be prepared to commit one way or the other as soon as the weather improves a bit :)

In which case I'll probably give the pub bit a miss. Being the only sober one is never a lot of fun. Instead I shall pretend I was there and recount stories of things that happened that you can't remember.

Or were they real?

Sure. [livejournal.com profile] dylan sometimes doesn't drink, so he may be able to keep you company.

Well I don't intend to get horribly drunk, but then that's not to say I definitely won't. I see your point totally, it's not so bad if it's a club but if people are JUST sat there drinking it's not going to be much fun for the sober person.

I don't drink much myself, and very rarely get anything more than a wee bit tipsy and this is because I like the taste but HATE being drunk. IF I am somehow able to make it, there's no way I'll have enough to get drunk, I'll never do that unless I have my bed to collapse on (or some other forgiving persons!)

Personally, I've always found it highly amusing watching / talking to drunk people while sober ;)

If Stuart comes along for the ride AND you can get to Oxford (cheap train from Bristol IIRC), then you can pillion with eithet him or Alex as I'm happy to pillion with either. Tent space may be tight, but my tent is technically a 4 sleeper but I only have a double + single airbed. I'm assuming Hannah has somewhere to sleep, but if not there may be a squish in my tent..

If you definitely want to pillion with Stuart if he makes it along, make sure you let him know for definite. :)

[livejournal.com profile] markbanang will be bringing me over. i should have space for one more in my tent. [livejournal.com profile] ev1ldonut the offer is there if [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000 doesn't steal you.
i should be able to help with the route a bit. trying to get details of places for sunday although there will be lots of people in the pub who can direct or maybe even join us on sunday.

If I'm able to get there, which is looking more likely, I think I shall take up on that offer, [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000 has already kidnapped me once this month :) But I think if she had her way she would steal us both and [livejournal.com profile] azekeil ;)

I'll let you know as soon as I know for definite!
thank you!

How could I possibly mind being offered to share a tent with you? It should be me asking if you don't mind!

I may as well now say that I'm going to be there, I just have no idea what my travel / pillion arrangements will be yet!

So I guess I'll see you soon :)

of course i don't mind. i offered to u 1st. if there is anything i can do to help i will. do u want me to sort u a sleeping bag? i'm trying to go over in the car the nite before to take tents and stuff.

I'm ok for a sleeping bag, got an expensive one that packs tiny. I actually used to go camping rather a lot, just not in the past 2 or 3 years. Unfortunately the tent didn't survive though... now usually just poach my parents or [livejournal.com profile] chocojon's ;)
