I'm finding that any time I do get to myself nowadays is taken up reading 4+ pages of friends' posts. And I still don't even have time to comment - much as I'd like to! So, again, another cull. Usual disclaimers apply. Notice I haven't even bothered to get myself a paid account again - I don't understand why I should pay for something I hardly have time to use any more.

Date: 2004-05-12 11:10 pm (UTC)Well, I can understand that part well enough! Given time. I'm sure life will sort itself out and you'll find that you have more, you time, to yourself. Can't be easy having uprooted yourself and all, plus a new job!

Of course some men are immune to other man germs, I'm not though. ;)

Date: 2004-05-13 03:24 am (UTC)"not if you ONLY like men"
which is not true for 99% of poeple I know (most don't, most of the rest like both) :p
A simple preference for one gender does not negate my statement that they are a good thing :p

Date: 2004-05-13 01:45 am (UTC)People who are not on your defualt list assume that you're reading their journals, then when you don't know what's been going on in their lives they feel hurt. I also prefer the 'friends cull' approach because that way you can actually interact with the people you've kept and everyone is very clear whether they're being read or not. :)

Date: 2004-05-13 03:11 am (UTC)I don't automatically put friends' journals on my friends list. Not everyone on my friends list is a friend.
I don't read all the journals on my friends list. Not all the journals I read are on my friends list.
They really need to sort that out.
In the meantime, it's not dishonest to put someone on your friends list whose journal you're not going to read, because that isn't what it means, and people shouldn't assume it is.
People can usually tell I'm reading their journal from the comments. If in doubt, they can actually ask me.

Date: 2004-05-13 04:01 am (UTC)I'm with you on this one. Someone on my friends list was going through a horrible breakup and so I took her off the list that I read, so I wouldn't be overwhelmed by the sadness. I still would occasionally go read it and see how she was doing, but I needed to not have the breakup in my face because I empathized with it too much. I have a couple other people I do similar things with (someone who's whole life is about their church, etc.) -- but I don't feel like it's dishonest. It's just compartmentalizing ;)
