I was tempted, but I'm currently paid up until next year, and I can't even use all the icons I've got, let alone fill the 50 spaces of a paid account, and 100... not a chance!

I was paid up until next year too and also had extra icons expiring next year, but the last time I failed to get a permanent account during a limited availability time window, I regretted it.

Oooh! Hmm.

I really do need more LJ userpics. And I do use LJ a lot. And $150 is only three or four years' subscription when I've been there more than two years already.

But I do have many months paid up. And now's not quite the right time for me, financially. And… why are they suddenly keen on a lock-in and/or extra cash? They did recently get acquired; I hope they're not about to change things for the worse, or something.

At least I have a few hours in which to mull this over. How often do they make permanent accounts available, anyway?

There's no set gap between times they make them available. The last time they did it was about 2 years ago, and the price was about half what it is now. (but there wasn't nearly so many perks then, so it was a damn good investment for those who got them!)

Next time could be another two years, and it could be even more expensive again.
