This morning I woke early remembering a strange dream snippet I had. I was driving up a hill in my car (an automatic), when I came across a number of horses with riders. Amazingly I managed to stall the car (which is difficult, it being an automatic). I thought that I wouldn't startle the horses if I tried to re-start my car, so I tried that. However, it did startle one of the horses, and it ran towards the car and pretty much ran over it, smashing the windscreen. I got out, and asked the instructor of the horse-riders (apparently that is what they were) if he had insurance - just from the look he gave me as I finished asking the question I realised the answer was of course not.

The damage, on inspection, appeared to be to just the windscreen, but someone else pointed out that one of my wheels was buckled slightly inwards underneath the car.

I think I decided to limp it to somewhere, and that I was going to try to repair it rather than ditch it.. but then I woke up.

So, any ideas anyone?

Something happens to you (which you can't control) and your natural reaction to it causes upset to someone close to you at the time. This causes them to damage you or your situation in some way, though this cannot be blamed on them as it's a perfectly natural reaction. There is no recompense or 'easy fix' for this, no matter how much you might feel that this would be fair.

I think I'd feel a bit guilty and a bit frustrated with the situation.

BTW, glad to see that you intended to try to fix it.

It's your inner biker/sane rational road user telling you that PUBLIC ROADS ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR FUCKING HORSES! If you are rich enough to own a horse, you are rich enough to own a fucking field to keep/ride it in. Horses should only be allowed on the roads in those horse box trailers.

In their defense, the road I was dreaming of was a rural lane probably more suitable for horses than cars anyway...

Horses should not be riden at all on pavement but rural roads ARE FOR ANYONE! Ya we have feilds but would you like to get on (say a motor bike) and go around and around and around in the same danm field for years on end! And were not rich! were poor because the horses take and arm and a leg to support but so do children!

They are for anyone, yes, but not anything. I'm not allowed to drive a car with loose wheels, because it's dangerous, and a bump may cause the wheel to come off, and hit someone else. Likewise horses are dangerous on roads because they get frightened by cars/bikes.
I don't own a dog because I live in a flat, I don't have the space to keep a dog. If you don't have the space to keep a horse maybe you should reconsider whether or not it is fair on the horse to own it.

A lot depends on whether or not there were four horsemen and if so how apocalyptic they looked. :-p

Then again, trying to make a claim against Death's insurance has a certain appeal. I'm sure there's at least a short story in someone cheating death by filing a damage claim against him for an industrial accident involving a scythe…

Death: He doesn't like the paperwork.

I'm sure Pratchett would have something to say about it.
