I make a big long post, and then I get 6 comments from 3 people on my OLD posts...! WTF?

Perhaps it's another symptom of post size being inversely proportional to the number of comments one gets..

I occasionally get email replies from posts I made ages ago - when the comments were made ages ago too.

Normally you can tell those though as the emails turn up where they should have done in the first place rather than at the top. :)

Yeah, these were made just after I posted rather than ages ago - but I have seen what you describe too.
