I just received a very strange phone call on my work phone from a young woman who sounded like she was trying to put on 'airs'. I could hear traffic noises. She talked about something - I couldn't decide if she was a sales drone, someone I knew, or what. Consequently I don't recall all of what she said, especially as it didn't make a lot of sense.

She said something about going down to the shops for cigarettes and a book. Then she talked about Charles Dickens and said that she thought his book was a bunch of *expletives deleted* - kind of how you might imagine a tourettes outburst might sound like. After a slightly stunned silence on my part I asked "Who is this?" but realised they'd already hung up.

How strange!

Looks scarily familiar. ;)

Is that the 'post quad biking' BBQ of DOOM?
;)

..and that's a very odd phone call indeed.
1471?

It goes through a switchboard. I've been looking up documentation to view the last number to call you, but without success. If I'm really bothered, I can place a support call to trace it for me.

Wow — dark ages switchboard. Modern ones pass CLI through to extensions! :-p

Sounds like it was someone so baked they got the wrong number, frankly.

Well normally we get the CLI. I don't remember seeing one this time, or if I did I didn't register it in the confusion. And I couldn't find out how to find out the number of the last person to call me...

How weird.

Today has been one of those days I think. My parents are away and I've been getting a load of their business calls including some quite strange ones.

Was never a great fan of Dickens either, but that's a pretty random call to make anyhow!
