The water went off at 7:30pm this evening - I'm assuming this is Cheltenham-wide. Here's the official police press conference report at 3pm today. The BBC think that the highest waters and therefore greatest threat to Walham power station will be sometime between now and tomorrow morning. If power does go out, it may take up to 5 days to get the station operational again, although contingency plans are being formed.

No news from work; I will need to go in and get my laptop as I can't really work effectively without it. I'll be doing that on my motorbike so I won't get stuck.

It's all getting a bit interesting, but waking up tomorrow we will probably know whether the power is going to disappear too.

GBP is running on a skeleton staff, and contingency plans are already in place n case we need to run the NOC out of another location. Currently it's business as usual except support works from home. As you say it, will get interesting if the lights go out in Gloucester and Cheltenham though.

Yeah, I meant no update - in the first announcement they said they'd update at 9am and 5pm daily..

I'm now at home with my work laptop :)

Still awake, wired now. Thinking about waking the man up and going out to see if anyone is still selling wellies.

Lol, oh dear.. there'll be a crash, but enjoy it while you can :)

I'm just looking through your pictures. A teasel? I didn't realise those were actual real things!

I know but it will probably be later today and it isn't due to rain again until tomorrow.

*lol* what did you think a teasel was then?

No - it's just if the traffic is a bastard I won't get stuck in it..

I don't see why not - although bringing lots of water (and some milk as the shops here have gone nuts apparently) with you would be really useful so I don't drain my own supplies providing everyone with tea and coffee...

A couple of loaves of bread would be more useful actually, we're alright for milk. ;)

No point getting to the front of the queue if it's because of a flood you can't cross by bike, though. :-p

No, but I can get to the front of the queue to turn round and be free of the traffic :p

Besides, the air intakes on the bike are just below the saddle, if push comes to shove..

I'm guessing that's quite a minor problem compared with the challenge of keeping the thing upright and retaining enough traction to avoid getting washed away…

Well I can put my feet down.. I wouldn't attempt this in moving water unless my life depended on it, though.

Yes, I have a full bath.

But, if the power goes out, you won't be able to get any more petrol either... which means you have to store some in your house which is both dangerous and illegal to store over 15l without a license. Not to mention that it would need refreshing every once in a while.
