Well it was a nice idea and initial interest seemed good, but nobody paid up, so we're not going. I shan't bother to organise one for September instead as I got so little interest this time I just don't think people are keen on it.

That's a shame. I really liked the idea and would have gone for it if it weren't for this accursed lack of money. Same goes for this weekend...would have liked to spend time with you guys for [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000's birthday celebrations, but I have the kids and just can't afford to bring them up to Cheltenham.

Being poor sucks sometimes.

Yeah, I'm fine (although obviously sad) if money stops people from doing things, but when a bunch of people (18!) said they wanted to do it, then none of them actually pony up it gets a little galling. I've never wanted to do anything special for a birthday before, and now I think I shan't bother in future.

I suspect people had their reasons, like it being in Wales and transport issues etc, but no one bothered to mention them to me, so I just end up feeling aggravated. :/

I've been away this week so hadn't seen your e-mail. When you first mentioned it I thought it was a great idea (I've wnted to do it for absolutely ages, they hold something similar at Herstmonceux), but I'm afraid planning anything in advance is a bit complicated for me at the moment - hope you understand and that you have a wonderful birthday. :)

i've run out of both time and money. :/
it sucks a bit having a birthday around this time of year because it seems to be the very busiest part of the year for social events. AND all the popular kids have birthdays at the same time. mine falls right between [livejournal.com profile] deathboy and [livejournal.com profile] ninjagirl, so there's really just no point at all trying to shoehorn another party in there, given how much overlap of friends there is.
i reccommend having an UNbirthday in one of the boring bits of the year, like late november or february. people seemed really happy to treat [livejournal.com profile] edwards's UNbirthday as a proper birthday when i held it on january 27th, a month after his actual birthday. and i'm pretty sure some of 'em showed just because there's nothing else on that time of year...

Hmph. I hope you'll forgive me if I have a minor throwing-toys-out-of-the-pram moment. I'm not going to entertain those sorts of ideas right now. Perhaps I'll feel differently later on, as I do still really want to do that with a bunch of mates :)

*huggles* I'll throw you a party. Even if its just you, me , lots of cake, jelly, ice cream and movies. Even if nobody else wants to come I'll try to make it special.
I know its not a medieval banquet, but dammit, I'll try.

*hugs SO tight*

It's purely financial for us. We shall be celebrating your imminent middle-aged-ness next weekend instead of the weekend after...

:(

If I could pay on the day I'd be fine, however for booking reasons that's just not possible and its another two weeks until payday. Maybe there's a way to organise something similar but smaller, and then anyone else who wants to join later on and pay their share in cash could do so...

or just do what [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000 said ;D

See you later.

Well, I hope that any future celebrations are met with your approval of friends and / or copious amounts of alcohol and / paraffin.

*hug*

I think finances have a lot to do with it...it is expensive - not for what it is maybe, but it was certainly an impossible amount for me to find, as much as I'd have like to have gone to something like that and especially for your birthday.

I've just caught up on your journal and I thought it sounded like quite a lot of fun! Heyho, you'll have to find another way to see in the big 3 o. Glad you survived the floods etc, hope it's as sunny in Cheltenham today as it is in Devon. In fact, I really must find a book and go read outside... xxx
