I have noticed something that I am actually now that curious about I am going to run a little experiment. I get really emotional in what is possibly a regular pattern. I will use LJ to record when I get emotional and see if it is regular and what the pattern (if any) is.

I wonder if it could be some sort of hormone induced emotions thing similar to PMT in women? I've always known how similarly I think to women (in general) in a lot of ways..

My last emotional period was all day Sunday, from when I woke up right until I went to sleep. I haven't found a suitable description of the phase of the moon but I think it was a little after full moon. Hmmm.

Some blokes I know just get really emotanal when they haven't had enough sleep.
Do you think you don't get enough sleep in a regular patten. (i.e every other w/e you don't get much sleep) or something like that.
I don't see why you're idea shouldn't work. (so i think it should work...) but you should prolly take sleep + food into account.

I once heard a theory that due to the fact that we are a large percentage of water the moon will effect us in its different stages similar to the way it controls the worlds shores. However I have found no evidence to show this and after many experiments my conclusion is that the only effect that the moon has on me is it makes me howl

I was going to suggest the moon.

I don't particularly suffer from PMT (or it could just be that I'm equally grumpy all the time so no-one notices ;-p) but I have found, particularly for the last 3 months, that my mood takes a nosedive with the waning moon. I suppose it does make me more emotional in the sense that I feel things more; tend to pick up more negativity and that kind of thing.

An interesting experiment, anyway. I look forward to hearing your conclusions :-)

Men suffer from hormonal changes on a 28 day cycle the same as women do, this isn't as well recognised because men don't bleed when thier hormones go nuts. The human bodily systems work about the same in men and women, we aren't all that much different, the major difference being women have more oestrogen and men have more testosterone bumbling about in their system. The two hormones obviously have a different effect on what happens inside the body, but the hormonal cycles are still there.

Please can you quote a source for this information?

I've heard this before and can't remember where.
