I've been threatening to do this for a while. In conjunction with my good friend Sarah, I've been organising a bike ride for anyone who wants to come along. So here it is! Sunday the 8th September in Reading. The plan is to meet at Sarah's house then either sample her cooking or depending on numbers find a non-smokey pub to have a bite to eat before going for our ride :) Suggested meeting time is midday to give us all time to arrive and a decent stretch of the afternoon to ride in.

If [livejournal.com profile] dylan gets his Honda VFR750 MOT'd and monoshock replaced he should be able to make it, possibly with a pillion ([livejournal.com profile] florence90?).. I'll be turning up of course on my bike with [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000 as my pillion. My old friend who [livejournal.com profile] cryx knows, who might soon be getting a journal might also turn up on his bike, no known pillion as yet. I'm also hoping that my friend Rose from London might be able to make it on her Yamaha Diversion 900, possibly with her boyfriend Matt. And of course Sarah will be riding her BMW 1050RT (I think it is) with her husband Tony as pillion :)

It'll be a blast! More detailed plans when numbers firm up :)

Hehehe - your telling me - the 1000 is £249 for the weekend and the 600 £195!

But what the heck - I haven't ridden a bike for about 3 months so I could do with the "blast" as you say!

Sheesh.. but yeah. I'm prolly going to be the least experienced rider there (although I don't know how long my old friend has been riding for).

So I'm sure you could easily get away with the 600 to save yourself a bit of dosh! I'm sure you'd be welcome to come and stay at [livejournal.com profile] kissycat1000's in Cheltenham beforehand and ride over with us in the morning to Reading ;)

Hiring locally to you sounds the best idea to me - you could always ask [livejournal.com profile] foxygirl22 if she'd like to come along for the 'ride'.. ;)

That would be good as long as there is room at the inn - so to speak!

It seems bike hire is quite rare from my investigations - I think I'll call talking pages!

I dunno about taking someone else pillion on a sports bike - I never liked it as it meant I had to behave - well only for their safety of course! I worry that if I come off I may hurt the passenger so tend to be overly careful when carrying a passenger! But I doubt Nicki would get a full weekend pass for this anyway! If she does - she can help with the hire cost! :0)

I've found somewhere in London that hires the right bike for me. Is it a trek to get from Chelt to London? On the train in leathers!?

The hire starts on a Friday morning and lasts until Monday evening but I s'pose I could drop it off on Monday morning! Thing is they don't do one day hires so I'll be stuck with the millstone of the bike unless I find somewhere here that hires the bike out!

I'll keep looking!
